I had the opportunity to visit Costa Rica during the pandemic which gave me great serenity so returning to this place through painting feels especially meaningful.These paintings mark a little exploration into a new genre for me. Inspired by the Fauvist approach to color, I'm exploring how to capture not just the beauty of a landscape, but the feeling it leaves behind. In this piece, I leaned into the vibrant, unexpected color and expressive brushwork to convy the energy and wonder I remember experiencing there.
