9x12" Painting in Gouache on canvas paper set in a matted gold frame. (11x14")

I had the opportunity to study abroad my senior year in college- an experience that helped plant the seed for what would eventually become my own artistic path.

Returning to this place through painting feels especially meaningful. These paintings mark a little exploration into a new genre for me. Inspired by the Fauvist approach to color, I'm exploring how to capture not just the beauty of a landscape, but the feeling it leaves behind. In this piece, I leaned into the vibrant, unexpected color and expressive brushwork to convy the energy and wonder I remember experiencing there.
